Research Scientist / Information Analyst - 12-month contract

Office based in Berkshire

Therapeutic Information Analyst - Scientific Information - Competitive Analysis - Pharmaceutical

Our client, a global biopharmaceutical leader, is looking to add to their highly skilled Scientific Information Services team in Berkshire with a contractor for 12 months. This company transform the lives of people living with severe diseases, particularly in the areas of the central nervous system and immunology. As the world moves towards tailored medicines and treatment, this organisation is at the forefront of translational medicine and target discovery.

In this role you will provide support to various therapeutic projects, with an emphasis on delivering competitive analysis and insight both in the research organisation. The successful candidate will partner with internal clients to understand their requests, identify the appropriate information sources, conduct subject matter investigation, evaluate results and provide the most relevant scientific literature and business information, delivering insight that will enable actionable outcomes.

The candidate should have a good knowledge of supporting an innovative research and discovery environment and have a strong information science/competitive intelligence background.

With a data driven focus, the candidate will be expert in competitor analysis and visualisation of information and will align closely with the business to ensure information is turned into actionable outcomes that can drive the organisation forward interpreting data and representing this in meaningful outcomes.

Other responsibilities will include:

*Scientific literature, patent and business information searching
*Gathering, analysing and interpretation of data from multiple information sources
*Organises, prepares and delivers targeted results from multiple information sources in visualized formats
*Interfaces with internal clients to determine research requirements, representing scientific expertise at inter-departmental level
*Evaluates and recommends new information sources that might enhance competitor intelligence activities
*Supports strategic development of the departmental strategy and broader organizational initiatives.
*On demand conference reporting

Qualifications:

Candidates must be of post-graduate level (or equivalent) with proven experience in the following areas:

*A deep understanding of Informatics principles and practice is a necessity for the role. It is expected that the successful candidate will have a solid educational background in and information competitive analysis role. You will also have proven and relevant experience of delivering support/solutions within a working environment and is recognised both internally and externally as an authority within own field of scientific expertise
*Ideally, applicants will have direct and extensive experience of working in a scientific discipline, demonstrable experience of working within therapeutic project teams and delivery of competitive insight to commercial teams including market research and patient solution teams
*Experience with commercial tools to support competitive information monitoring, delivery and visualization such as Spot fire, Pipeline pilot
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be a confident and influential proponent of informatics principles and solutions and their role and value in the scientific workflow
*You will be a strong communicator with the ability to transform complex theories/methodologies into messages suitable for a broad audience
*This individual must be self-driven to maintain a competitive expertise in the information analyst field, and must work well within a team-orientated, highly flexible and dynamic group
*Representing scientific expertise at cross-functional/departmental meetings and is recognized internally as a scientific expert, providing advice, direction and mentorship to colleagues, helping other colleagues to succeed in their goals.
