Technical Sales & Business Development Manager - Chemical, Personal Care & Cosmetics

My client is a leader in the field of performance and speciality chemicals whose products are used in a variety of applications in the surface coatings, adhesives and the cosmetics industry.

They are now looking for a Technical Business Development Executive to join the team, you will be responsible to manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts in the Personal Care Sector. This will also involve building strong customer relationships as well as gain an understanding of customer's current and future needs and use that insight to identify business growth opportunities.

This position will suit someone from the chemical, personal sector or cosmetic sector, and a background in chemistry or formulation and development.

The Role:

* Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts
* Identify, target and develop new business opportunities within allocated territories
* Raise and follow up sales quotations in a bid to maximise sales
* Respond to customer enquiries in a timely and professional manner
* Support the Personal Care and Cosmetic team to access new customers and grow business at existing customers
* Use experience and knowledge from a technical environment and provide technical support to the sales and purchasing team
* Liaise with the technical team to support and progress existing, as well as prospect, customers in their new product developments
* Arrange and follow up samples and product approvals
* Pro-active approaches by both e-mails and on the telephone (e.g. chase orders, forecast updates, discuss upcoming requirements, quotations outcomes, discuss pricing, new product opportunities)
* Provide information for personal and market performance through monthly reports, forecasts and annual budgets.
* Travel on customer visits to maintain and develop customer relations
* Attend exhibitions and trade shows in representation of the company


The Candidate:
* BSc (or equivalent) in Science or Business or similar
* Knowledge of Cosmetics and Personal Care formulation techniques is desirable
* Experience of working within a sales / target driven environment
* The ability to learn and understand new technologies, and apply this knowledge to business development.
* Experience dealing with customers / developing customer relationships (ideally within the Chemical industry or similar B2B environments)
* Strong commercial skills and sales techniques
