Systems Project Manager - Berkshire - Contract

Very competitive day rate, 3-6 months initially, good potential to extend

We are urgently seeking a Systems Project Manager to join a biopharmaceutical company in Slough on an initial 3 month-6 month contract, with good potential to extend. This role will be crucial to managing the internal small molecules and screening assay software solution.
You will focus on operations workflows, data processing and exploitation of data in the context of drug discovery. Working closely with Scientists and Developers in the UK and at a European site to enhance and maintain platforms and tools to support their pipeline.

Job responsibilities:

*Act as a domain expert in the compound logistics and screening cascade fields; collect and communicate requirements for the enhancements and or replacement of the existing system
*Provide domain expertise to software development teams in order to make sure deliveries fit with needs.
*Formalize and address the requirement of several stakeholders (researchers, external partners, software development teams, internal IT governance)
*Kick off, oversee and monitor the developments as well as the acceptance tests
*Make sure all necessary production monitoring procedure (support, maintenance) and plans are in place.
*Ensure that the necessary IT and Informatics tools and training are available to scientists, so that they understand and realize the potential contribution of our IT systems
*Working with external companies who are managing logistics
*Deliver guidance as well as tactical data management solutions to the scientist so as to improve operations and decision making processes.
*Build proposals to enhance the technical landscape with a focus on small molecule drug discovery within New Medicines

This role is for a manager function but you will not manage a team. This role has a strong emphasis on functional skills as you will be working independently for the majority of the time.

Experience Required:

*3+ years' experience within the bio-pharma sector
*Familiarity Software Design and Development methodologies.
*Knowledge of Software Architecture principles, ability to make an abstraction of information systems, focus on the main components, their roles, relations & interaction
*Ability to work with a wide variety of scientists across two sites (will require international travel)
*Experience in the large multi-site multi-disciplinary IT project
*Experience with outsourced processes & external collaborations
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Exposure to lab robotics & automation
*Solid foundation in logistics and drug discovery systems
*Experience delivering custom software engineering and configuration
*Experience with a variety of logistics systems
*Strong ability to communicate and present ideas/concepts for technical and non-technical audiences
*Exposure to Data pipeline tools such as Pipeline Pilot or Knime would be an asset
