Paramount Recruitment is currently working with our medical technology client in the UK who are looking for a brand new Senior Director Business Development to lead their company presence in the Boston area, Massachusetts. This position can be based in the office in Boston, or there is flexibility to work from home.

This privately owned organisation is invested in the health of those living with a rare disease. Their scientists are going directly to rare disease sufferers to help educate them about their symptoms and gather personal data for use anonymously in research. This is helping people to recognise their symptoms as soon as possible, in order to be diagnosed quicker and be offered the best treatment. As a partner to the pharmaceutical industry, this data can also be used to accelerate drug development and help companies understand what it is like to live with a rare condition. With recent funding and plans to begin sequencing genomic data, this is the ideal time to consider joining this growing company.

As a Senior Director, Business Development, you will utilise your sales and life sciences experience to generate and lead new conversations with potential clients, focusing on the Boston area. This will also extend to the east coast, including New York, New Jersey and North Carolina. Your territory will be very specific, with various relationships already in place. You will help to define the business development strategy for the company, based on market feedback, and there are plans to grow this team further over the next 2 years with this person being the fundamental element.

The company will also arrange support from the team in writing proposals and completing admin tasks so you can focus on your strengths in winning business.

*Structure, negotiate and close significant deals in line with the company's business development objectives. Significant deals are defined as between USD50k-$2m
*Work collaboratively with the company's business development team to ensure documentation is produced efficiently and accurately
*Input all updates into the company's reporting software
*Report to the senior team, weekly and monthly, on the status of current proposals
*Create business development reports for monthly board meetings
*Attend related events in the Boston area, representing the company and building relationships with key clients

We are looking for a self-motivated professional with the experience and passion to see the company through these exciting stages in the US. You should be very confident working independently, building relationships and very familiar with the life science industry and clinical research in particular.

Experience required:
*Educated to degree level in a Life Science discipline
*At least 5 years' experience in clinical research
*Proven track record in identifying appropriate prospects and closing deals in the pharmaceutical industry
*A deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including the full drug development process
*Excellent people skills, including an ability to build relationships over time and communicate clearly
*Used to working with international teams, this company is based in London and Boston
*You will enjoy travelling and meeting those at the forefront of drug development in rare disease.
