Programme Director - Buckinghamshire - Contract - 2/3 days Week for 2 Years

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Programme Director to lead an innovative Genomics Programme for a world renowned medical charity. For over 100 years the charity has been at the forefront of the provision of services for people suffering with neurological disorders. From residential care services, to social therapies and pioneering research, they recognise the need to enhance the quality of patient's lives. This forward thinking organisation are now investing into genomic research that will revolutionise diagnosis and treatments, allowing for a personalised medicine approach. The Genomics Programme will focus on a large scale whole genome sequencing programme, with the ultimate aim of prescribing personalised treatments, improving patient care and reducing side effects of medicine.

As the Programme Director you will provide leadership to the Genomics Programme, supported by a Programme Manager - including organisation, resourcing, planning and controlling all key programme activities. You report directly to the Chief Executive and Research Director, whom you will be working in partnership with to ensure effective delivery of the project.
Key responsibilities will focus on planning, organisation and implementation of the programme, governance & compliance, resource management, and communication & engagement, and seeking to maximise the opportunities that will arise.

Accountabilities will include:

- Developing and implementing the long terms goals and objectives of the programme- particularly focusing on innovation, implementation in the public and private healthcare space and benefits management.
-Planning the roadmap to delivery of the overall programme in accordance with the programme goals and aims.
- Developing the long term financial plans, annual budget and operating plans. Ensuring that the programme operates within approved budgets.
- Managing and identifying risks and take action to resolve these.
- Reporting to the Management and Trustee boards to update on the programmes progress.
- Monitoring the programme activities and conducting evaluations within the programme evaluation frameworks. You will ensure that activities operate within the policies and legislation of the organisation, and any relevant external legislation.
- Developing funding proposals, resourcing plans and business cases for the programme, including the recruitment of programme staff.
- Overseeing the communication and engagement with stake holders to gain external support and raise improvements for the programme.
-Working closely with Fundraising to execute immediate and long terms funding strategy.
- Liaising with managers across the organisation to raise the profile of the programme, both internally and externally.
- Seeking and developing opportunities to enhance the value of the programme.

Skills required:

-You must have a successful track record as a Programme Manager or Programme Director. Ideally you will have led clinical, medical or research programmes from inception through to competition.
- Qualification in Prince 2 or other project management methodology.
- You will have excellent relationship building and stakeholder management experience. The ability to communication effectively with a wide range of audiences and speak the language of both clinical/medical professionals and 'lay people' is also important.
- The ability to work effectively in a matrix type structure.
