Process Chemist - Based in Angus - 12 months contract with view to be extended Paying up to £30,000 per annum (Depend on Experience)
My client is a global Pharmaceutical organisation that is looking to take on a Process Chemist join their expanding team and contribute to the resolution of technical issues having process chemistry dimensions. The large scope of the organisation means that for the right person there are career opportunities beyond these roles.
As a Process Chemist you will be responsible for:
* Improving processes on commercialised products to maximise process robustness, throughput and yield.
* Supporting quality investigations with a particular focus on trouble shooting issues encountered during routine manufacture in order to determine route cause
* Isolating and characterising process impurities and where appropriate synthesising analytical impurity standards
* Process familiarisation activities to support the technical transfer of new products to site
* Maintaining laboratory housekeeping/safety standards and ensuring key equipment is maintained in a safe working order
Requirements:
* BSc degree or higher in chemistry with a particular focus on organic/synthetic chemistry having a good understanding of ICH guidelines such as GMP.
* Preferably a demonstrated track record of working within the pharmaceutical industry developing cost effective, safe and robust processes for plant API manufacture (e.g. Phase I to III clinical trials or for commercialised products)
* Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to trouble shoot processing issues encountered during routine manufacture
* Good background in key analytical techniques including NMR, MS and HPLC
* Proficient in writing COSHH assessments for planned experiments
* Experience of using automated laboratory equipment including CLR vessels
* Process optimisation software including Design of Experiments (e.g. Design Expert or Modde) and/or Principal Component Analysis software
