Laboratory Manager - Cambridge

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Lab Manger to join an innovative life sciences company based in Cambridge. As an organisation they are developing a cutting-edge technology for a strong therapeutic product pipeline within oncology and inflammatory diseases. The company are enjoying a period of expansion and it's an ideal time to be joining them.
As the Laboratory Manager you will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of a small Lab Support team and working closely with Scientists across areas such as assay development, molecular biology and protein sciences.

Key responsibilities:
*To manage a team of laboratory support staff on a daily basis and supervise the standard of their work
*Liaise directly with scientists to discuss their support requirements and implement solutions as needed
*Ensure laboratory support documentation and record keeping is up to date and meets required standards
*Develop and continuously improve standard operating procedures and protocols (SOPs) and maintain training records
*Ensure the labs are maintained in a clean and safe way, conducting regular inspections
*Management of the reagent preparation and in-house stores.
*Meeting with sales reps, negotiating prices on consumables and setting up/reviewing account pricing and long-term quotations
*Management of all equipment and assets in the laboratory, including their maintenance and service contracts.
*Coordinate Health & Safety requirements and compliance, including licences, permissions, lab safety, display screen equipment and risk assessments, writing of safety SOPs and training of staff

Experience:

Essential:
* Graduate qualification or equivalent in a biological science or other relevant discipline
* Significant experience of managing a biological lab
* Knowledge of the regulatory requirements specific to the lab environment

Desirable:
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and a relevant qualification
* Experience of managing a small team
* Previous experience of using SAGE
