Job Description Position Overview:
Regional Manager, UK
Report to: Sr. VP and General Manager

The Regional Manager is responsible for managing a team of delivery professionals in a UBC Specialty Clinical Services Branch office in Goring, UK. Additionally, the Regional Manager will also coordinate administrative functions with UBC Specialty Clinical Services Corporate office including office expenses, facilities management and other supporting business functions. Specific responsibilities will include staff development and evaluation; planning and directing work; client management and business development; and office management. Additionally, the Regional Manager will also be responsible for the development and management of assigned client projects. Ultimately s/he is responsible for insuring quality services delivery, personnel development, and account development within the UBC Specialty Clinical Services Branch office.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

Client Delivery (40%)
• Manage a team of Project Managers, Project Specialists and Clinical Leads that oversee the delivery of projects associated with assigned accounts.
• Support development of Branch-office Clinical Specialists in conjunction with US-based Clinical Operations AVP.
• Coordinate management of centralized services provided by corporate office including Creative Services, IT, HR, Finance and Business Development.
• Ensure all projects are managed “on-time, on budget”, coupled with high quality deliverables that exceed client expectations.
• For assigned projects, manage all aspects of the projects, including budget, invoicing, staffing, project plan and client deliverables.
• Coordinate resource planning and staff assignments for projects with department Directors based in corporate office.


Personnel Development (15%)
• Provide administrative support to staff particularly concerning human resources (HR).
• Coordinate recruiting and training activities for Branch office staff with corporate office.
• Coordinate performance appraisals, promotions and terminations with corporate office.
• Provide guidance, leadership and coaching to staff.
• Conduct regular and frequent meetings with office staff.

Office Management and Reporting (15%)
• Recommend, refine and implement business process / infrastructure enhancements to operating model to promote efficiencies and quality.
• Coordinate the management of Branch office expenditures with Corporate Accounting.
• Oversee management of facilities and supporting business functions.
• Prepare and communicate Monthly Reports to UBC Specialty Clinical Services Leadership Team that address the following:
o Project performance and client service;
o Business development activity;
o Integration of UBC SCS policies, guidelines and SOPs;
o Personnel development; and
o Administrative issues—current and anticipated.

Business Development and Client Management (15%)
• Maintain direct responsibility for customer relationship management for active projects to ensure the highest quality of customer service.
• Contribute to establishing components of the UBC Specialty Clinical Services business model in Europe by expanding our international network of Clinical Consultants.
• Assist business development efforts at new clients by identifying opportunities, facilitating proposal discussions, preparation and defense.
• Deliver sales presentations to key clients. Meet with key clients to optimize client relationships and quality service.
• Attend industry meetings, professional conferences and seminars, as appropriate, to promote UBC Specialty Clinical Services.

Clinical Consultant Management & Research (15%)
• Actively participate in UBC Specialty Clinical Services research strategy including the identification of poster topics, manuscripts, and other publications, review of internal submissions, preparation, publishing and presenting of posters and articles.
• Together with Leadership, design and implement a publication and marketing strategy/campaign to leverage key European meetings including: CINP, ECNP and other appropriate meetings.
• Build and strengthen relationships with a ROW network of clinicians and clinical consultants to support the development and delivery of clinical content.

Requirements: (Knowledge, Skills, Experience):
• Leadership and Management Abilities –Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. Experience managing and growing a team of talented professionals. Previous experience with personnel management. Excellent problem and/or dispute resolution skills. Proven leadership skills. Strong business planning, communication, decision-making leadership, and managerial skills.
• Human Resources: Demonstrated experience in the areas of employee training and development.
• Industry & Technical Experience - Graduate degree in the sciences. Pharmaceutical industry experience and clinical study experience required. CNS experience, training and/or education background preferred. Two to five years experience as an account manager, product manager or project leader in clinical trials.
• Customer Service - Responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance. Able to manage multiple projects and to meet stated customer initiated deadlines.
• Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; develops realistic action plans. Able to think ahead and plan over a 12 month time span.
• Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; demonstrates group presentation skills. Fluency in English.
• Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; keeps commitments.
• Initiative - Takes independent actions and calculated risks; looks for and takes advantage of opportunities; asks for and offers help when needed.
• Innovation - Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work; develops innovative approaches and ideas; presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention.
• Quality Orientation: attention to detail.
• Entrepreneurial - Ability to work rapidly both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, small-company environment.
• Computer Skills - Strong PC skills, including experience using MS Project, MS Office Products, and Web Browsers, or equivalent.
• Travel - Committed to visiting US Headquarters and representing the satellite staff.
