We need an experienced, motivated individual ready to make a significant contribution as a Safety Data Quality Manager supporting the DSP function.

Safety Data Quality Manager to support SQL queries of drug safety databases. Pharmaceutical, R&D, pharmacovigilance. Configuration of safety systems, maintaining a database of adverse events for drug safety systems. Argus Safety or ARIS Global. Knowledge of Oracle databases, writing queries using SQL, PL/SQL and Cognos/OLAP tools. First line user support, testing & validation, training and database support.

You will be part of a team in the EU Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance Group (DSP), which in turn is part of a global safety database maintenance team. You will ensure configuration of safety systems, supporting DSP members to provide high quality reporting of Individual Case Safety Reports and maintain a database of adverse events from clinical studies and spontaneous reports. A dual role requiring both IT database experience and R&D Safety system business knowledge, you will take responsibility for performing complex data retrieval/queries from the Safety Database, compiling periodic and ad-hoc safety reports, contribute to testing and validation of the safety database (including electronic transmissions of safety information), providing first line user support, training for database and safety business applications and also participate in global and local safety system projects. From a business perspective this may include pro-active monitoring of EMEA and International regulations, providing regulatory input and advising on measures for implementation for SOPs and working practices, as well as maintaining licenses, studies and documentation for the Global Safety Database.

BSc/BA, Life Sciences or business level qualified, you should have a sound knowledge of the pharmaceutical sector; pharmacovigilance, drug safety systems/applications and solid IT experience of Oracle databases, SQL or PL/SQL. This will include knowledge and support of drug safety databases, such as Argus Safety or ARIS Global, writing bespoke queries and reports using SQL and some use of OLAP tools such as Cognos as well as everyday use of MS Word and Excel. With knowledge of EU Regulatory bodies, experience of translating guidelines/legislation into operational procedures and working locally, and in a global context, to elicit information, write, execute and present reports to a high standard under time constraints is important. Personal attributes will ensure you are pro-active, analytical influential, service oriented and able to inspire confidence. Communication and presentation skills should be excellent with sound knowledge of the English language both spoken and written.
