Head of Assay and Platform Development - Cambridge

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Head of Assay and Platform Development to join an innovative biotechnology company based in Cambridge. This industry leader are focused on developing cutting edge genomics technologies that will improve personalised healthcare for patients worldwide.

As the Head of Assay and Platform Development you will taking a leading management role in optimising product pipelines and developing new innovative technologies. You will be working across the company to guide strategy from concept through to commercial product release. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially and process driven manager who is passionate about cancer diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:
*Lead the Development of proprietary technologies
*Manage a team of Technology development scientists and automation specialists.
*Define process/assay strategy working with key stakeholders in LIMS, Product Development and Computational Biology
*Invent and identify novel methods to expand the product portfolio.
*Work with IP team to manage IP portfolio and determine FTO for future technologies
*Identify product opportunities with Business development and act as a technical adviser.
*Work with the Commercial and Marketing teams to understand product opportunities.
*Project manage assay development from prototyping through the development process.
*Guide the computational biology teams.

To be considered for this opportunity you must be educated to BSc/MSc/PhD level in a relevant scientific subject. This educational background will be coupled with a minimum of 7-10 years' molecular biology/diagnostics experience, and at least 3 years direct line management experience. You will hold a strong understanding of the product development process and have an excellent track record in the implementation of complex molecular biology assays. Strong experience of next generation sequencing is required.
