Key areas & Responsibilities and Tasks

Product Development


Develop new, stable, safe and reproducible formulations to meet customer requirements and intended markets within agreed timelines and target costs.

Reformulate existing formulations to meet customer requirements/performance and intended markets within agreed timelines and target costs.

To lead investigations into "problematic" formulations or customer complaints. Document and feedback to customer the conclusions and ways forward.

To offer technical/formulation expertise to customers and/or internal departments.

Communicate with raw materials suppliers to drive innovation and understand latest developments in technologies and trends.

To keep accurate records of all laboratory work carried out.

To generate and maintain all required paperwork for product information files (PIF) and cosmetic product safety reports (CPSR)

Liaise with customer, internal departments and suppliers to ensure the efficient progression of products through their development stages to the required timelines.

Laboratory environment


Ensure that all equipment is working safely, within its required parameters and is left clean and operational.

Carries out daily checks, calibrations and records results.

Ensures that laboratory surfaces and floors are keep clear, clean and free from any spillages.

Ensures that health and safety practices are maintained and correct PPE is worn in appropriate areas of the business.

Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)

Other Key competences


SCS Diploma, Scientific Degree or other industry specific qualification.

Minimum 3 years laboratory experience in Cosmetics/toiletries and skincare.

Good knowledge of industry, preferably through related work experience or diploma in cosmetic science.
