FORMULATION SCIENTIST - PHARMACEUTICALS
INITIAL 6 MONTH CONTRACT
BASED IN KENT
£30,000 - £36,000 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

A leading pharmaceutical company based in Kent are currently recruiting for a Formulation Scientist to join their Drug Product Design department within Pharmaceutical Research & Development. An independent, productive and innovative Formulation Scientist is sought to work on drug candidate/ drug delivery technology projects. Activities will include experimental design, execution, interpretation, technical feasibility assessments etc. to support candidate development from materials characterisation, formulation design and conception through to proof of technical feasibility, process scale up and to technology transfer to commercial partners.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Design and undertake experimentation to establish formulation that have commercial viability;
- Interpret scientific data to derive clear conclusions, take responsibility for writing up experiments/ authoring technical reports;
- Maintain current awareness of advances in the formulation, processing and characterisation of pharmaceutical dosage forms (particularly parenteral and solid dosage form) and identify opportunities for application to realise product enhancement concepts.
Candidate Requirements:
- BSc or MSc in Pharmaceutical or similar sciences with practical industry experience in an operational R&D role in pharmaceutical / drug delivery e.g. pre-formulation, formulation and/or process development of pharmaceutical dosage forms;
- PhD in a relevant field e.g Formulation, processing and/ or characterisation of pharmaceutical dosage forms;
- Broad knowledge of formulation of pharmaceutical dosage forms;
- Evidence of meticulous approach to laboratory work with clear understanding of differences between solid and liquid development;
- Evidence of good time management skills and effective oral and written presentation skills.
