London based, 12 month contract

Would you like to work for a leading Biotech company specialising in Antibody development?
My client are a London based Biotechnology company working at the cutting edge of Antibody Drug Discovery and Development, they are looking for a Conjugation Chemist to work in their R&D team to produce, purify and characterise a variety of protein conjugates including antibody-drug conjugates for supporting internal drug development and external partner collaborators.
Using their proprietary technology they have developed a generation of antibody drug congugates for oncology targets with marked improvements in terms of activity, ease of manufacture, therapeutic index and available quality control assays.
This is a laboratory based role, which would suit someone looking to grow their career within the Biopharmaceutuical sector with a leading technology based company.
Responsibilities of the role include;
* Produce, purify and characterise a variety of protein conjugates including antibody-drug conjugates
* Evaluate new drug-linkers by biophysical and chemical analysis of protein conjugates.
* Evaluate new conjugation methodologies and techniques.
* Perform routine maintenance on standard laboratory equipment.
* Work collaboratively with the Chemistry, Biology, Analytical teams and general larger organisation.
To be considered for the role, you will need the following skills & experience;
Essential:
* BSc, MSc or Ph.D. (or relevant research experience) in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
* Good understanding of chemistry and protein biochemistry
* Hand-on experience in chemical or biochemical laboratory
* Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
* Good team-working skills, able to work under time constraints and to deadlines. Excellent timekeeping
* Consistently works to a high standard and looks for ways to improve current working practices and processes
Desirable:
* A track-record of protein modification experience
* Experience of protein analysis, characterisation and quantitation by UV/Vis spectroscopy, size-exclusion/hydrophobic interaction/ion exchange chromatography, HPLC, LCMS
* Experience of small molecule analysis, characterisation and quantitation by HPLC and LCMS
* Use of the AKTA system and Unicorn chromatography software
* Antibody-drug conjugates experience
* Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Strong interpersonal, influencing and collaboration skills, to work in a project-oriented, multi-disciplinary environment.
