Commercial Programme Delivery Lead - Genomics
Paramount are working in partnership with Genomics England to expand their team in order to deliver success Paramount are working in partnership with Genomics England to expand their team in order to with the 100,000 Genomes Project. This is a challenging and fast moving project with the aim to carry out whole genome sequencing on 100,000 participants. Genomics England works with key partners to collect, transport, store, quality check and sequence the samples from participants. The aim for this project is to create a new genomic medicine service for the NHS - transforming the way people are cared for. Patients may be offered a diagnosis where there wasn't one before. In time, there is the potential of new and more effective treatments.
The post holder is responsible for facilitating successful leading edge commercial projects and programmes with commercial partners - from proposition to full execution through to post project benefits appraisal. The role focuses on pro-actively supporting our external partners with their genomics projects working with the data and insight that we provide to them through our world leading Genomics research environment.
The post holder influences and understands the commercial strategy, thereby ensuring project alignment as well as understanding our data, tools and services. The post holder works across the organisation to ensure we deliver sustainable commercial value and further the strategic objectives of the organisation.
*Contributing to the commercial strategy and agenda
*Understanding the commercial market and pro-actively identifying opportunities for commercial engagement
*Developing propositions and business cases, and converting commercial opportunities into agreed projects
*Understanding the needs of customers; working with customers to ensure that their scientific projects are successful and that they gain value from their interactions with Genomics England.
*Understanding our research environment and other assets and knowledge capabilities we hold or can access, and being both a super user and advocate internally and externally.
*End to end project management of commercial projects from the Genomics England perspective, working in unison with the commercial partner's project lead, and drawing together internal project resources to ensure effective delivery of agreed outcomes.
*Collaborating internally, particularly with those in the Research Environment team, bioinformaticians, clinicians and software and infrastructure engineers, to develop and deploy suitable solutions for customers.
*Engaging with the academic community (i.e. GeCIPs) to ensure commercial propositions are fully supported and executed, and identifying tri-partite opportunities.
*Troubleshooting problems with customers, apprising options and execute solutions, co-ordinating with internal teams when necessary.
*Ensuring that projects once delivered are migrated to 'business as usual' as appropriate
*Producing benefits realisation reports and case studies following projects
*Sharing knowledge within Genomics England about projects, customer needs and experiences and contributing to the development of the organisation.
*Strong senior level customer-service orientation and proven expertise in partnership working with customers, preferably in the scientific/pharma industry.
*Ability to develop relevant strategies, compelling commercial propositions and business cases
*Relevant commercial market knowledge and relevant networks aligned to relevant markets for Genomics England
*Delivery focus with end to end project management skills and proven change management skillset
*Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and excellent facilitation, influencing and presentation skills
*Proven ability to communicate with key customer and internal stakeholders from diverse backgrounds (eg management, IT, R and D, biology, bioinformatics)
*Excellent team working skills and comfortable working as part of matrix teams and as part of external teams to ensure delivery.
*Experience of working in a knowledge sharing environment
*Experience of academic bioinformatics research using large datasets in a field relevant Genomics England.
*Experience of using a suite of bioinformatics tools to problem solve and answer research questions.
*Strong statistical analysis skills and knowledge base.
*Good MS Office skillset
*Ability to work independently with a high degree of motivation and focus, and to complete tasks according to company priorities with minimal supervision.
*Adaptable to an ever-evolving working environment
*Willingness to travel occasionally (<15%) to meet customers or to attend events to gain market insight.
*Educated to MSc level (or higher), in a scientific discipline relevant to Genomics England
*Software development experience.
*Experience of database development and design, ideally including both SQL and NoSQL (eg Hadoop).
*Strong publication record in a relevant field, and a proven ability to stay abreast of developments in that field.
*Previous experience of delivering training resources and events.
*Proven understanding of clinical and phenotypic data management and the sensitivities surrounding patient cohort data.
