Lead CRA Role - Salford Lung Studies (SLS)

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Accountable for assisting CRA Line manager (CLM) with monitoring and assessing performance & resource of the SLS CRA team, and delivery of Asthma and COPD Studies. Line & performance management remains the responsibility of the CRA Line Manager.

* Oversight of SLS clinical research site management activities such that data and audit quality and site related milestones are met.
* An in-depth knowledge of pharmacy monitoring and processes and ability to mentor those who are new to the role.
* Accountable for escalating any performance issues to SLS CRA Line Manager
* Motivation of CRAs through regular individual one to one meetings and accompanied field visits to ensure productive, efficient project delivery, the expectation being that a minimum of 60% of time will be site/CRA facing
* Utilisation of coaching & mentoring at site in order to enhance individual & team performance
* Effective communication with Manager, CRAs, Clinical Study Manager and wider appropriate SLS Project teams to facilitate effective project team interaction and performance
* Responsible, in conjunction with the CSM and CRAs to determine feasibility of new sites to participate in COPD or asthma studies in order to deliver against target
* Acquisition and maintenance of therapeutic area and product specific knowledge
* Maintain the ability to conduct pre-study site assessments and initiations and maintain a working knowledge of monitoring and close down processes, so the Lead CRA can conduct start up activities when required to do so and can effectively support CRAs with all site management requirements. They will be expected to help monitor high recruiting sites, during periods of CRA absence where appropriate.
* Assist with training sessions, SLS specific activities eg User Acceptance Testing, data management, safety, audit and governance meetings as appropriate.
* Effective cross functional working with other SLS teams - community team, safety team, data management, pharmacy and technical team.
* Regular meetings with FTM to monitor progress/ performance and issues/ escalation.
* Monthly F2F meetings with other lead CRAs and FTM to discuss team performance in depth, share best practice and assess resource requirements.

Key Job Dimensions

* Assist in monitoring, optimising and ensuring performance and quality, advising on resourcing requirements and escalating any performance issues as appropriate to the CRA Line Manager.
* Oversight of up to 10 CRAs


* Degree in life science or equivalent.
* Extensive experience of clinical research in the pharmaceutical industry.
* Experience of clinical site and project management.
* Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
* Good team working skills
* Ability to communicate effectively.
* Self-motivated and capable of working with a high degree of autonomy.
* Detailed knowledge of ICH GCP.
* Proven track record of delivery, quality and leadership within the SLS project
* Ideally located within a 30 mile radius of Salford as 3 days a week onsite is expected
