In 2019 Nicola and Jon Mendelsohn set-up the Follicular Lymphoma Foundation with the mission to find a cure for this cancer. Using their extensive networks they have moved at pace to establish the charity and build a network in the medical and scientific community.

As someone living with follicular lymphoma, Nicola ensures that the patients’ interests and perspective is at the heart of every move the charity makes. As natural business disruptors, and with careers built on making productive connections, the founders have set-up the charity with the mindset of a start-up, driven to do whatever it takes to find a cure.

In May the organisation approved a new strategy and an agreement to move forward to look to sign a precision medicine proposal with a leading US research institution and a commercial partner. This will include setting up the world’s largest follicular lymphoma patient registry and running the Foundation’s first clinical trial with the intention of starting the trial later this year.

The FLF is looking to hire someone with the experience and expertise to oversee this clinical and research programme. Whilst all elements will be delivered through out-sourced partners, it will be critical for the FLF to maintain control of its assets, and oversee the work from a medical, scientific, IP, financial and governance perspective.

Whilst long-term we believe we will need a full-time hire, both our desire to move fast, and individuals personal circumstances, mean that this role may suit someone to join as a contractor, or on a part-time basis, and the FLF is willing to work with the right prospective candidate to tailor the role to fit their personal circumstances.

  3. With the relevant legal support, ensuring that we are cognisant of and adhere to all regulatory and legal requirements for all participating countries - keeping in mind the FLF’s reputation.

  4. Establishing Standard Operating Procedures, so that the roles and responsibilities of the FLF and its partners are clearly established

  5. Establish ground rules and protocols to enable future commercial partners to access our data assets for research.

  6. Establish a set of metrics so that the status, progress and performance of our assets and our investments are regularly reviewed by the Trustees.

Legal & Contractual

  1. Supporting the Trustees as contracts are negotiated to establish these core elements

  2. To ensure that all actions, decisions, and contracts are in line with the contractual agreements over FLF’s intellectual property.

  3. To support the development of new partnerships and proposals for access.

Patient Recruitment & Services

  1. To work with the Director on

    1. initial recruitment of patients, ensuring that we and our partners maintain patient privacy and have effective governance over all consent forms.

    2. developing an on-going programme to expand the Patient Registry and Tissue Bank to ensure that our universe is sized to meet the needs of future trials.

    3. ensuring that a regular flow of communication messages is delivered to our different target audiences.

  2. In time, to contribute to the development and maintenance of a Patient Information Service, updating patients on the development of new treatments or treatment protocols.

  1. To manage the day to day running of the programmes, working with our scientific partners, ensuring a positive relationship
