The Company

As an independent process / product development and regulatory affairs consultancy, the Group has established a particularly strong reputation in the field of biologics.

Following the founding as an independent, privately owned company in 1993, a subsidiary, was launched in London, which is now the company's largest single consulting operation, dedicated to biologics consulting, including advanced therapy medicinal products (gene and cell therapy products).

Thereafter, subsidiaries were incorporated in the US and Australia, in Washington, DC, and Brisbane, respectively. More recently, a further subsidiary was established in Hertfordshire, providing core regulatory affairs services and dealing also with small molecule drugs and generics.

The Position

It is envisaged that the COO will be situated in the London office, but will have responsibility for operations across the whole organisation. Each office has at least one, in some cases two, employees at director level, but these directors are responsible each for their own teams and services, although cooperation across the offices is encouraged.

The position is very much a strategic and organisational role, including oversight of operations and business development (sales and marketing). However, a team is in place for marketing the group through presentations at conferences, and for high-level strategic consulting activities, but the operational management across the group would be better placed in the hands of a COO.

Understandably, as a relatively small organisation, totalling around 55 employees across 5 offices, ensuring operational discipline, optimising efficiency and productivity, is a key challenge.

The directors of each office will report directly to the COO, and the goals of this position are to optimise cooperation across the group as well as increasing efficiency and productivity. Stepwise, responsibilities and authority will be transferred to the COO, including the business development oversight function.

Essential Qualifications ,Skills & Knowledge to Succeed within this position:

The successful candidate for this position will be a sophisticated manager with a scientific education in the life sciences (preferably with a Ph.D.) and will have experience in a related service industry.
As the ideal candidate you will be a proven leader / mentor and have proven success spanning over a number of years within the pharmaceutical / Biologics Industry.

Benefits:

To the successful applicant, my client is offering a salary in the region of £120,000 - £145,000 + benefits dependent upon experience
