My client is a global pharmaceutical company operating in 115 countries with total sales exceeding €1.4 billion in 2015. With three Research and Development sites in Les Ulis (France), Cambridge (US) and Abingdon, near Oxford (UK). The research focus of the UK R&D site is on developing novel therapeutic treatments for neurological disorders based on Botulinum neurotoxin . Scientists within the multi-disciplinary teams work closely together on projects which span basic scientific research to pre-clinical development.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pharmaceutical Sciences division for a highly motivated innovative Bioprocess Scientist with experience in up to date molecular biology and protein purification techniques to join our Protein Engineering Team. You will be responsible for working on early stage projects and work closely with other functions e.g. assay/process development and in-vitro/in-vivo assay teams to enable the building of a robust project for delivery of innovative biopharmaceutical therapeutics into the companies drug pipeline.

To provide scientific expertise to exploratory neurotoxin research projects within the Protein Engineering Team. Design and build constructs for expression and purification of proteins for subsequent analytical and bio-functional testing. Development and implementation of innovative procedures for expression and purification for challenging proteins in order to facilitate the preparation of a range of therapeutic protein drug candidates.

* The Bioprocess Scientist will be accountable for the design and implementation of cloning and expression strategies, including the design of the DNA of interest.
* The design and implement of protein purification strategies for the production of functional recombinant proteins and their component domains.
* Identify, develop, adapt and apply innovative biochemical and molecular biology technologies to further project aims, thereby ensuring that my client operates to a high scientific standard and at the forefront of current scientific developments.
* Support laboratory management, including maintaining standard operating records and following laboratory quality systems.
