Bioinformatics Project Manager

The 100,000 genomes project is a challenging and fast moving project with the aim to carry out whole genome sequencing on 100,000 participants. Genomics England works with key partners in research, pharmaceutical and academia to collect, store, QC and sequence samples from participants. There is currently a highly talented bioinformatics team in place and Paramount are working with the group to offer additional candidates the opportunity to contribute to the project at the most exciting and challenging phase of the programme. The aim for this project is to create a new genomic medicine service for the NHS to support diagnosis and better treatments for patients. In time, this will truly transform the way people are cared for.

We are excited to announce the release of a brand new Bioinformatics Project Manager position on a permanent contract to be office based in London. This role's main purpose will be to oversee and co-ordinate the on-time implementation of key projects within Genomics England, especially those within the bioinformatics and interpretation areas.

An example is the bioinformatics and clinical interpretation project to deliver key software that will support the interpretation of and provide the clinical interface for the presentation of genome data for the 100,000 genome project.

Key Responsibilities:
*Effectively manage bioinformatics and genomic analysis projects, from end to end.
*Monitor and manage the collaborative development of a bioinformatics and clinical interpretation platform, to ensure that key milestones are met for its development, highlighting risks to the projects and ensuring that resources are appropriately assigned.
*Identify and drive partnership opportunities such as integration of sequencing with clinical data and clinical annotation services to improve and automate genome interpretation and increasing clinical value of results.
*Interface with key opinion leaders at hospitals and genomic medicine centres, scientists, clinicians, bioinformaticians and Genomics England working groups to ensure the successful roll-out of software products, and to ensure that customer requirements are met.
*Support and organise project meetings, including organising and producing agenda, papers, actions and notes.
*Analyse, interpret and present data to highlight issues or risks and support decision making.
*Ensure all partners are aware of each other's priorities and activities.

Experience Required

*Experienced in managing major software project development, deployment, or integration; experience with clinical genomics within a biotech/pharmaceutical organisation, research institute, or academic medical centre is preferred
*Strong record of leadership and successful delivery of complex projects across multiple stakeholder groups while under tight timelines
*Commercial contract and partnership experience
*Data management, operational and scientific problem-solving skills
*Project management skills, ideally experience of working within PRINCE 2 and Agile project environments.
*Report writing, analytical and reporting skills
*Strong organisational, time management and planning skills.
*Must have demonstrated excellent ability to interface with customers and internal teams ideally in clinical and software settings
*Ability to work cross-functionally through many teams to execute goals and set and meet milestones.
*Familiar with the challenges of clinical interpretation of genetic test results would be an advantage
*Ability to analyse information and present it in a clear, concise way to clinical, scientific, and corporate audiences
*Competent use of all standard MS Office applications, including ideally MS project
